Project Overview


2cofly conducted a 100-acre drone survey for Core Tech International, utilizing LiDAR and photogrammetry to capture highly accurate topographic data. This project aimed to support two key sites—one designated for a solar development project and the other for facility planning.


To optimize efficiency, 2cofly partnered with TG Engineering’s survey team to accelerate the data collection process, ensuring fast and accurate results while reducing the timeline of traditional surveying methods.


The Challenge

Surveying large-scale land areas manually is both time-consuming and resource-intensive. The engineering team required a fast, high-precision dataset to aid in surveying, planning, and development.


Given the size of the survey area and the need for precise elevation data, a drone-based LiDAR and photogrammetry approach was the ideal solution to:

  • Capture high-resolution terrain data over a large footprint

  • Reduce survey turnaround time compared to traditional ground methods

  • Provide engineering-grade deliverables for planning and development


Approach & Methodology


Advanced Aerial Data Collection

2cofly deployed LiDAR-equipped drones to scan the terrain with centimeter-level accuracy, generating a high-density 3D point cloud. In parallel, high-resolution photogrammetry was conducted to produce an orthomosaic map, ensuring a detailed visual representation of the survey area.


Collaboration with TG Engineering

To enhance accuracy, TG Engineering’s survey team provided ground control points (GCPs), ensuring the drone-derived data was georeferenced to precise coordinates for engineering applications.


Deliverables Provided

  • 3D Colorized Point Cloud – High-density data for detailed topographic analysis

  • Digital Elevation Model (DEM) – Accurate representation of ground terrain

  • 1’ Contour Map – Engineering-grade elevation contours for planning

  • High-Resolution Orthomosaic Map – Detailed aerial imagery for land assessments


Results & Project Impact
